A.J. Pierzynski and the White Sox agreed to a two-year, $12.5 million contract extension Saturday. Pierzynski is hitting .263 with 14 homers and 50 RBI this year.

A.J. Pierzynski is expected to miss most or all of the White Sox's series versus the Tigers that runs through Thursday. He has left the team to attend a family funeral, according to the Chicago Tribune. Toby Hall will be behind the plate in Pierzynski's stead, though look for rookie Donny Lucy to make his debut on Wednesday.

A.J. Pierzynski was given a routine day off Wednesday, the AP reports. With five more games to come for the White Sox in the next four days (including a doubleheader Friday), it was prudent for Pierzynski to get some rest here.

Look for A.J. Pierzynski to sit out of Sunday's game. He's expected to drop his appeal of a one-game suspension and serve it today, according to the Chicago Tribune. "I have a sneaking suspicion I might drop the appeal [Sunday] and sit out," he said. That's because he would have sat out anyway, since the White Sox face a left-handed starter in Wandy Rodriguez. Toby Hall will replace Pierzynski behind the plate.
