Before Friday night's game Matt Holliday was scratched due to a stiff lower back and on Saturday, the Rockies announced that he would miss the rest of the season. Both Holliday and the Rockies have said that the injury isn't serious, according to the Rocky Mountain News.

Matt Holliday has been scratched from Saturday's start with a minor back injury, according to the AP. Manager Clint Hurdle said, "He tweaked his back yesterday during the game. What I heard was making a play in the outfield. I put the lineup up, by the time he got here today he was not comfortable."

Rockies GM Dan O'Dowd is said to be quietly asking around about a potential trade involving Matt Holliday, according to Jon Heyman of SI.com. One of the first calls O'Dowd made was reportedly to the Mets, with the deal also including Willy Taveras and involving Carlos Beltran and top prospect Fernando Martinez. Understandably, though, that deal was shot down by the Mets, and any trade between the two clubs seems like a longshot.

Manager Clint Hurdle is thinking of moving Matt Holliday from the third spot in the lineup cleanup, and that could result in Holliday running more, according to the Denver Post. "I could possibly steal 20 bases, but I am not going to hurt myself trying to do it," Holliday said. "We will be more aggressive as a team. I don't think we are going to miss Matsui as much as everyone thinks. He was a good player, but we didn't have him out there all the time. Who knows? We might not need more stolen bases, anyway." "(Hurdle) said he was considering it, and it really doesn't matter to me where I hit," Holliday said in the Denver Post. Holliday doesn't care where he hits, and fantasy owners really don't, either - assuming that he is in either the three of four spot.
