Manager Charlie Manuel said that Jayson Werth will continue to get playing time even with Shane Victorino and Michael Bourn now available. Werth has really stung the ball since July 30, hitting .384 with three home runs and 26 RBI. Manuel said Werth will get most of his playing time against lefthanders, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.

The Phillies activated Jayson Werth from the DL Wednesday. Werth has been out with a sprained left wrist. Manager Charlie Manuel would've liked Werth to get more rehab at-bats, but injuries to fellow outfielders Shane Victorino and Michael Bourn have forced the team to activate Werth a little early, according to the AP. "I wanted Jayson to get anywhere from 35 to 40 at-bats," Manuel said. "One reason we wanted to bring him back was he's an athlete and he plays a pretty good outfield." Werth should start in right against lefties.

Jayson Werth was placed on the 15-day disabled list Thursday due to a sprained left wrist. Werth injured the wrist playing catch a week or so ago, and he claims this injury isn't tied to past problems he's had with the wrist.

The Philles hoped that when they inked Jayson Werth to a deal last month that he would be about 90 percent recovered from wrist surgery by the time spring training starts, but there's a chance he could be 100 percent recovered, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer. If Werth is completely healthy, he will compete with Shane Victorino for the starting job in right.
