Brad Wilkerson won't need surgery on his right hamstring injury, but he's expected to be sidelined longer than the 15-day minimum. He is expected to be examined by team orthopedist Dr. Keith Meister when the club goes to Houston this weekend, according to the Dallas Morning News. "It's kind of the same as last year when I hurt my shoulder in May," he said. "I was just starting to swing the bat pretty well and stuff happened. It's disappointing, but it's something I can't really do anything about."

Brad Wilkerson left Tuesday's game in the fifth inning after injuring his right hamstring, the AP reports. Wilkerson won't be available Wednesday, and it's likely he'll wind up on the disabled list. "It's not good," manager Ron Washington said. Should Wilkerson be out for an extended period, options include calling up outfielder Marlon Byrd from the minors or activating outfielder Frank Catalanotto from the disabled list.

Brad Wilkerson had what was described as a "small" cortisone shot in order to relieve the pain and discomfort in his left knee and avoid going on the disabled list, the Rangers official site reports. "In the next couple of days, if it doesn't get better, we might have to [go on the DL]," Wilkerson said. "But I'm not thinking about that right now. I'm hoping we caught this early." Wilkerson had the same problem in Spring Training and he let it linger for 7-10 days.

Brad Wilkerson left Tuesday's game in the top of the ninth inning after tweaking his left knee, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports. He said the condition wasn't serious, but he didn't want to worsen it; he had a similar, but more painful, instance of the same problem in spring training that bothered him for 7-10 days. "There's something in there that just catches, and when it catches I feel like I can't even bend my knee for a second," Wilkerson said. "I didn't want to go back out there and do something stupid running after a ball.... It's nothing drastic, just something we've got to get calmed down."
