Manny Ramirez has been scratched from Wednesday's lineup, according to the Boston Globe. Manager Terry Francona said, "He showed up this morning, I wasn't ready for that. He said his right knee hurts."

The Red Sox and Angels battled late into the night with XXXX emerging victorious, 11-3. For the Sox, it was the great Manny Ramirez leading the effort (despite his troubles with team management over recent days). Manny went 2-for-3 at the plate with one walk, hitting his 19th homer of the season to total one RBI and two runs scored.

Manny Ramirez has not been fined a six-figure amount, as had been reported, according to the Boston Herald. Instead it was a fine of $10,000 to $15,000 which will go to charity.

Manny Ramirez has reportedly been fined a six-figure amount by the Red Sox for his June scuffle with traveling secretary Jack McCormick, according to the Boston Herald. WBZ sports director Bob Lobel commented, "The thing that most people are forgetting and haven't talked about is the strikeout in Yankee Stadium. The bat on the shoulder for the three pitches from Mariano Rivera. That was a big [expletive] to the Red Sox after the fine. I'm just telling you, there are things in the front office that are perceived ... I'm saying that there is a strong feeling that that three-pitch strikeout was the message to the Red Sox and it's a strong feeling that that's unacceptable."

Red Sox Principal owner John W. Henry was offended by the comments made by Manny Ramirez suggesting that the team's front office and ownership hasn't been straightforward with him regarding his future, according to MLB.com. Henry said, "I find remarks that we have been anything other than completely straightforward to be personally offensive. Manny has been a crucial part of two World Series championships. I do not believe we would have won either without him. He has never played a more important role than he has thus far this year." Ramirez irked Henry by saying on Wednesday, "I want to know what's my situation. I want no more times where they tell you one thing and behind your back they do another thing. I think I've earned that respect, for a team to sit down with me and tell me this is what we want, this is what we want to do."
