Tim Hudson will start on short rest Sunday if the Braves are still in the playoff race. Jo-Jo Reyes is set to start Friday and Jeff Bennett on Saturday against the Astros, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Tim Hudson won his eighth straight decision on Wednesday night. He held the Giants to eight hits and three runs over eight innings. Hudson is 6-0 with a 1.78 ERA and 1.01 WHIP in seven starts since the All-Star break.

Tim Hudson held the Nationals to one run and seven hits over seven strong innings on Monday night. The effort earned Hudson his first win since May 30, a span of five starts. Hudson walked none and struck out nine.

Braves manager Bobby Cox says Tim Hudson has a "knot behind his neck" but doesn't expect the pitcher to miss a start, according to the AP. Hudson left Thursday's game in Minnesota after allowing only two hits in 7 1/3 scoreless innings.

Tim Hudson thinks he'll be fine to make his scheduled start on Thursday. He left his start on Saturday after taking a line drive off his left leg. "I feel like a big sissy today," Hudson joked in the AP. "It really hurt yesterday, but I got some ice on it and this little thing here (an anti-inflammatory pad) is a miracle-worker."

Tim Hudson was forced to leave Saturday's game in the third inning after being hit in the left leg by a hard ground ball, the Braves official site reports. Hudson is considered day-to-day; we'll see what we learn when he's re-examined Sunday.

Tim Hudson was hit on his left wrist by a line drive during his outing on Thursday, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. He was able to stay in the game, and X-rays taken later came back negative. "It's way more sore today than it was [Thursday] ... but it'll be all right," he said on Friday.

After a subpar season in 2006, Tim Hudson went back to a rigorous offseason weightlifting program like he used in Oakland, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "I wanted to go into spring training stronger than the last couple years, and I feel like I've already accomplished that," said Hudson. Last year, Hudson often tired late in games, as well as at the end of the season.
