Brad Lidge is optimistic about being able to pitch today after throwing a bullpen session Monday morning, according to the Houston Chronicle. "My arm felt real good," Lidge said. "I was real pleased with today. I was able to crank it up pretty close to game speed, and I felt real good, so we're going to ice it and make sure everything feels good (today). Unless something I can't foresee happens, I should be able to go (today)."

Brad Lidge threw a 35-40 pitch bullpen session before Monday's game and pitching coach Jim Hickey pronounced him fit, according to the AP. Lidge has missed 10 games since straining his right biceps June 24 and it was his first work off a pitching mound. "He was pain-free," Hickey said. "In the best-case scenario, he would be able to pitch (Tuesday)."

Astros manager Phil Garner said Brad Lidge won't be available again until at least Monday or Tuesday, according to the Houston Chronicle. He's nursing a strained biceps. Brad Lidge, who has been unavailable for five consecutive games because of a strained lower right biceps, said Thursday he was feeling better and could be available today, according to the Houston Chronicle. "We're going to be smart about it," he said. "I'm not going to come out of the chute and throw two innings. It's there, but it's one of those deals where the pain I initially had is gone, and now it's a little sore. We're going to treat it and be smart, and hopefully it's behind me."
June 30, 2005
Brad Lidge was unavailable Wednesday for the fifth consecutive game with a strained lower right biceps muscle, according to the Houston Chronicle. Manager Phil Garner expects Lidge to be ready to pitch tonight. "It was real weird," Lidge said. "I didn't do it in a game. I did it during long toss, which is something you never do during long toss. When you pull it or strain it, it should get better fast as long as you proceed with caution. But if you try to run right back out there, you can make it worse."
