September 13, 2007
Chipper Jones hopes he'll be able to return to the lineup by Friday. Jones, who is out with an oblique strain, took swings before Wednesday's game. "It feels good [hitting] left-handed," Jones told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "Right-handed it's still a little sore."
September 12, 2007
The Braves are officially calling Chipper Jones day-to-day with a strained right oblique. However, manager Bobby Cox said that he thinks the injury is "more than day to day," according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. While it could just be that Cox is posturing, you should probably expect Chipper to sit out at least until this weekend.

Chipper Jones was out of the lineup again Tuesday with a strained muscle on his right side, the AP reports. The Braves are calling him day-to-day. Yunel Escobar started at third in his place.

When Chipper Jones was scratched from Monday's game after straining his right oblique in batting practice, the AP reported that he was day-to-day. Chipper told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that it could be two days to a week. However, the Constitution is also reporting that it is up in the air as to whether he returns at all this season. Jones has had numerous oblique injuries in his career, though he did say the pain he currently feels isn't as severe as the pain he felt when he pulled his left oblique in 2006, which led to two stints on the disabled list.

Braves third baseman Chipper Jones strained a muscle on his right side during batting practice and did not play Monday night. He is listed as day-to-day, according to the Associated Press.
August 30, 2007
Chipper Jones is playing through right shoulder pain, and he hopes the injury won't sideline him before the end of the season. "It hurts worse swinging left-handed because I extend and let go of the top hand when I swing and miss," he tells the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "Unfortunately I swung and missed a lot [Tuesday] night." Jones is day-to-day with both shoulder and groin soreness.
August 29, 2007
Chipper Jones was able to play Tuesday despite the nagging groin injury he's been dealing with. Jones played all 11 innings in the loss at Florida, going 1-for-4 with a homer and a walk. Given that Jones hasn't really been healthy at all in 2007, he's having an outstanding year (.335 average, 22 homers, 79 RBI in 108 games).
August 27, 2007
Chipper Jones aggravated a sore groin muscle during Saturday's game. He took batting practice before Sunday's game but decided he couldn't play through the malady, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The injury bothers him more when he's hitting from the right-hand side of the plate, and since the Braves face lefty Scott Olsen on Monday, it's possible Jones could sit out again. Expect the Braves to think long term with Chipper and play things cautiously.
August 6, 2007
Chipper Jones went 3-for-4 with a homer, double, two runs, and two RBI on Sunday. The effort came despite a sore left thumb and a recent slump. "I was really frustrated," Jones tells the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "It was a little better today. Not great; but I got some results."
July 26, 2007
Chipper Jones missed Thursday's game due to his nagging groin injury. The problem flared up again during Wednesday's contest, according to the AP. He can't seem to shake the injury, but he's continued to play well when he takes the field. Jones is listed as day-to-day.
June 23, 2007
Could Chipper Jones be headed back to the disabled list? He missed Friday's game with a strained abductur muscle in his right groin, and manager Bobby Cox didn't rule out a trip to the DL, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "It's not doing too good," Cox said of the injury. "I hope it's day-to-day, but it doesn't sound like it." Chipper got in only eight game since returning from the DL after recovering from bruised palms. Once a workhorse, who never missed games, the aging Jones now appears unable to get healthy. It sounds like he will miss at least some more action, regardless.
June 21, 2007
Chipper Jones left Wednesday's game in the sixth inning with a sore groin, the AP reports. "It was hurting," said manager Bobby Cox, who wasn't sure if the slugger will miss any games. Yunel Escobar replaced Jones at third and will likely play there as long as Jones is out.
June 13, 2007
Chipper Jones came off the DL Wednesday and went 3-for-4 at Minnesota, serving as Atlanta's DH. Jones is coming back from sore wrists, and he's battled a handful of other nicks during the season.
June 12, 2007
Braves manager Bobby Cox said Chipper Jones is getting close to coming back, according to the AP. "Now it's not week-to-week anymore, it's day-to-day," Cox said. "Hopefully sometime this road trip." Jones, who has been on the disabled list with sore wrists, took some batting practice Tuesday.
June 11, 2007
Chipper Jones took a turn for the better on Sunday, as he continues to recover from sore wrists. He was able to test them by taking batting practice, and it's possible he could return to action as soon as Tuesday, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "some more batting practice from both sides, see how it feels," said Jones. "Depending on that, I guess we'll make a decision on Tuesday. If it feels good enough to go, I want to get back in there. If I'm still feeling pain, I'll probably wait another couple days." Since he's not certain and still hurting, it's tough to go ahead and put him in weekly lineups that need to be set Monday. But it appears that Jones should be back in action at some point this week.
June 10, 2007
Chipper Jones was upbeat after taking grounders and making some soft throws across the infield in batting practice Saturday, the AP reports. On the disabled list with sore wrists, Jones said he hopes to start swinging a bat "in a matter of days."
June 8, 2007
Chipper Jones was eligible to come off the disabled list on Friday, but instead he was happy just to have his hands and wrists free from braces for a few minutes, according to the AP. Jones injured both wrists in a May 11 collision with the Pirates' Jose Bautista and was finally placed on the 15-day DL on June 1, retroactive to May 24. Jones said his wrists have improved. "It's better but still a little ways away from doing anything," he said. "I'm just hoping that it doesn't take four to six weeks to completely heal."
June 5, 2007
Chipper Jones is nowhere near returning to game action. Although he's eligible to come off the disabled list on Friday, he likely will need several more weeks to recover from his injured wrists, according to the AP. "It's a bone bruise," he said. "But it's right where the ligament meets the bone." Jones has received cortisone injections as treatment and is wearing removable splints to immobilize the joints. Yunel Escobar will continue manning the hot corner in the interim.
June 1, 2007
Chipper Jones will be placed on the DL because of lingering soreness in his hands and wrists. Jones hasn't played since May 23 due to the injury. X-rays on Jones' wrist were negative, but he's concerned there might be some ligament or other damage, and he's not sure what the next course of action is. "I have absolutely no idea," he said in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "I don't know what to do. We're doing everything. I'll try to strengthen the wrist, and hopefully the bone bruises will heal in this down time." The Braves will purchase the contract of Yunel Escobar from Triple-A Richmond to replace Jones on the roster.
May 29, 2007
Chipper Jones did not play for the sixth straight game on Tuesday because of a sore right hand, according to the AP. May 29, 2007
Chipper Jones took part in batting practice on Monday, but he could still land on the disabled list as soon as Tuesday. Jones has not played since getting a cortisone shot in his right hand last Wednesday. He injured both hands on May 11, but the right one is especially bothersome when Chipper hits, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. At the least, Jones is not expected to play on Tuesday or Wednesday.
May 28, 2007

May 26, 2007
Chipper Jones sat out another game Saturday and remains day-to-day, the Braves official site reports. Jones, who was potentially available for a pinch-hit appearance on Saturday, has seen this hand ailment keep him out of the lineup for seven of the past 14 games. He jammed both of his hands during a hard tumble that followed his May 11 collision with Pirates third baseman Jose Bautista.
May 24, 2007
Chipper Jones still is bothered by the bruised thumbs that sidelined him for four games earlier this month. It got bad enough Thursday that he was held out of game aciton, according to the AP. "It's becoming pretty troublesome," Jones said on Wednesday. "Every time I hit the ground, I hurt it. Every time I take a check swing, I hurt it. I'm not going to go out there if I can't help the team." He received a cortisone shot in his right thumb on Wednesday and is expected to miss at least one more game. It's possible he could get another shot in his other thumb, which could cost him more time. He's played well, despite the injuries, as he's hitting .300 and is third in the NL with 12 homers. Hopefully, he'll get back in the mix this weekend.

He bruised both of his hands and thumbs Friday, and he asked to have his right hand X-rayed because the soreness had not dissipated. The X-rays came back negative. "You don't think a bruise would keep you out this long," Jones said. "But if it's bruised, it's bruised in the exact right spot."
May 14, 2007
Chipper Jones missed his third straight game Monday with bruised wrists and thumbs, according to the AP. He was originally in the lineup, but was scratched before gametime. It's unclear if he'll be back in the lineup on Tuesday, but it appears as though he's at least getting close to returning.

Chipper Jones missed Saturday's game due to bruised thumbs, according to the Braves official site. He's also dealing with a sore quad, though Jones feels he could have played through that ailment alone. Jones, who had been battling a sore right wrist for a few weeks, will almost definitely miss Sunday's game, and he might miss the first couple of games with Washington at the beginning of next week as well.
May 12, 2007
Chipper Jones had his left quadriceps wrapped in ice after last night's game due to a collision with the Pirates' Jose Bautista in the fourth inning, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Since his other quadriceps has been sore recently, it's possible that Jones could take today off to rest up. "We'll have to wake up and see how I feel," said Jones. "I'd say it's fair to partly cloudy now."

"He's looking at [playing] Wednesday, but we'll see," manager Bobby Cox said. "I told him if he can play the last two games down here and the two games with the White Sox [March 30-31 exhibitions in Atlanta], that'd be fine with me."
March 18, 2007

March 14, 2007
Chipper Jones returned to action Tuesday and went 2-for-4 with an RBI, the Braves official site reports. He's been dealing with a sprained ankle but it's not considered anything major, and most importantly, it's not related to his chronic foot problems.
March 13, 2007
The sprained ankle Chipper Jones sustained is mild and not related to his chronic foot problems, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "I could have played," Jones said. "(manager) Bobby (Cox) said, 'No, take the rest of the day off.'" Nonetheless, considering the foot injuries he's had in recent years, it's obviously a bit of a concern that he has a problem already.

Chipper Jones basically took three months off in the winter to rest his chronic foot problems, the AP reports. Jones isn't going to have surgery on his feet, feeling it's too risky a procedure. "There's not a foot doctor in America who will touch me right now," Jones said. "There's all these horror stories about breaking the feet and resetting them. No one is going to take a professional athlete and take a chance on ending his career. To be honest with you, I'd much rather just play my way through it. I'll look at it down the road when I'm done playing."

Jones said that he did not hire and trainer/dietician to supervise workouts and meals this offseason like he did last. "I hired a trainer and went on the DL three times [last year]. I don't need to dedicate three hours a day to working out at this stage of my career. I can spend more time with my kids"
