Doug Davis held the Padres 2-9 hitters to four hits and no runs through eight innings, but unfortunately for him, Padres leadoff hitter Scott Hairston hit two home runs leading to three RBI to saddle Davis with his fourth loss.

Arizona LHP Doug Davis put a good effort on the mound this evening, but his Diamondbacks fell just short, taking the 5-4 loss versus Boston. Davis lasted seven innings, surrendering three runs (all earned) on seven hits with one walk and six strikeouts.

Doug Davis put together an inspiring performance Friday. In his first outing since undergoing surgery for thyroid cancer, Davis held the Braves to one run on five hits and two walks while striking out four over seven innings. He picked up his second win in three starts and now boasts a 2.70 ERA.
