"When you start the season, I try to get my guys to stay small and not try to get too big, especially the big boys who are accustomed to hitting home runs," manager Willie Randolph tells the New York Post. "For guys like that it's good just to start small and as you get more comfortable open up. It's a good approach, but we have to get the big knocks, too." Delgado battled hip problems this spring but seems to be swinging pretty well at the moment.

Carlos Delgado made his second consecutive start on Friday and according to the New York Post, looked none the worse from his hip ailment and lacerated forearm. A healthy Delgado that could reach 30 HR and sneak up on 100 RBI this year would make the Mets offense over-the-top good. The veteran first baseman is currently not considered a starting option in mixed formats, but his health and a run of hits during April could change fantasy perception.

Carlos Delgado was sent back to New York Satruday to undergo an MRI, the results of which came back negative, according to the New York Daily News. However, he's been diagnosed with an impingement in his hip that will keep him sidelined for a few days. While GM Omar Minaya insisted the injury isn't believed to be serious, the ailment is in the same part of the hip as the injury that cost him a couple of weeks in September. So there must be some legitimate concern here.

Carlos Delgado has been sent back to New York to undergo an MRI on his sore right hip, according to Newsday. "We don't expect it to be an extended situation," GM Omar Minaya said. "It's early in spring training and we wanted to get a look at it." Let's hope they're just being cautious, because Minaya added that the soreness is in the same area of Delgado's hip that bothered him last September. Delgado missed two weeks due to that injury.

Carlos Delgado feels that he will be able to rebound from a down 2007 for the Mets this season. Delgado thinks it was bad timing more than injures that limited him last year, and his manager agrees. "There's no doubt he struggled last year being consistent with his approach," Willie Randolph said. "He was good at times, but the Carlos Delgado we all know, I'm sure he's never had a year like that where he just really couldn't find that comfort zone." Delgado still hit 24 HR with 87 RBI, so it wasn't like he was a total bum, though he did lose a 10-year streak of 30 HR, 90 RBI seasons.
