ESPN.com reports that the Mets reached a preliminary agreement Wednesday to acquire Carlos Delgado and $7 million from the Marlins for first baseman Mike Jacobs and pitcher Yusmeiro Petit. However, the deal is not yet final and won't be until all three players pass physicals. Delgado hit .301 with 33 home runs and 115 RBI last season.
