If the Mets make it into the playoffs, it appears they'll probably be without their first baseman. Carlos Delgado left Sunday's game after the first inning after being hit in the left hand with a pitch, and X-rays have revealed a fracture, according to SportsTicker. Delgado was replaced by Jeff Conine.

Mets first baseman Carlos Delgado will be out 7-to-10 days with a strained muscle in his right hip, according to the Associated Press. Delgado hurt himself Tuesday night and was sent back to New York Wednesday for the MRI exam that revealed the damage. Shawn Green, Marlon Anderson, and Jeff Conine are all options to replace Delgado at first while he is out of the lineup.

Carlos Delgado injured his right hip on Tuesday night and may not be able to play on Wednesday. "When I put my foot down and did my rotation, I felt something pull on the side of my hip," Delgado tells the New York Daily News. "Hopefully it's not something that will keep me out for too many days, so I can continue to do what I'm doing." He was 3-for-5 prior to getting hurt.

Carlos Delgado is off to a slow start, but he stated on Tuesday that he's feeling no ill effects from the wrist and elbow surgeries he underwent over the offseason. "It would be a lot easier if they just asked me," Delgado told Newsday. "I'm 100 percent. I have no pain in my elbow compared to last year at this time and the surgery on my wrist was pretty basic. I was fine three weeks after the surgery. Physically, there's nothing wrong with me." Delgado is hitting just .209 with three homers on the year, but manager Willie Randolph plans to keep writing the slugger's name in the lineup every day.

Manager Willie Randolph is not concerned about the slow start of Carlos Delgado. "You're more concerned if in your heart you don't feel he's going to come out of it," Randolph told the AP. "He'll come around. He'll start finding his rhythm." Delgado is hitting just .214 this year with three homers and 23 RBI.

Carlos Delgado was given his first day of the year off Sunday, the AP reports. He's hitting just .187 on the year. "I know what I need to fix. I haven't fixed it yet. I feel like I'm rushing, pulling off," Delgado said. "I'm pulling off the ball, moving my head too much. I can't drive the ball because I don't have any weight on my back leg. I'm not using my hands, blah, blah, blah. I'm not anxious."

Carlos Delgado's first home run of the year Monday came just two innings after he took a pitch off his right pinkie finger, the Newark Star-Ledger reports. Delgado said he expects to be fine despite a little hand soreness, and he was in the lineup Tuesday, going 0-for-4 with a walk. X-rays on the finger came back negative.
