Wiki Gonzalez, who was outrighted to Triple-A New Orleans on Friday, accepted his assignment, according to the Washington website. He could have rejected the assignment and become a free agent. Gonzalez was hitting .229 with no home runs and two RBI in 12 games with the Nationals.

Wiki Gonzalez could only play three innings Wednesday night because he was injured when he was hit in the head by Preston Wilson's backswing in the second, according to the AP. Gonzalez was diagnosed with a mild concussion and a strained neck muscle.
