After being named in the Mitchell Report last week, Brian Roberts admitted using steroids once in 2003, according to the AP. "In 2003, when I took one shot of steroids, I immediately realized that this was not what I stood for or anything that I wanted to continue doing," Roberts said in a statement. "I never used steroids, human growth hormone or any other performance-enhancing drugs prior to or since that single incident. I can honestly say before God, myself, my family and all of my fans that steroids or any performance-enhancing drugs have never had any effect on what I have worked so hard to accomplish in the game of baseball. I am very sorry and I deeply regret ever making that terrible decision."

Brian Roberts has 19 steals this season, but none in the past six games. Apparently, he's been dealing with a sore right hamstring for a couple of weeks and has been being cautious on the basepaths recently as a result, according to the Baltimore Sun. "[I'm] just trying to protect it a little bit - just don't want it to get worse," said Roberts, who is expected to sit out Wednesday's game and take advantage of Thursday's off-day to rest. Since he's continued to play, it doesn't sound serious at this point, so hopefully rest and caution will clear up the problem quickly.
