Cesar Izturis said yesterday that he doubts he'll return to action this season, according to the Daily Southtown. He's dealing with a tight right hamstring. "There is a big bruise back there," Izturis said. "They tried to take all the blood out of there. I don't think I will be playing any more this year. I just want to get healthy for next year."

The Dodgers activated Cesar Izturis from the disabled list on Tuesday and announced that he would be the team's everyday third baseman starting Thursday, according to the AP. Izturis, who had season-ending Tommy John surgery last September to his right elbow, has only played the position once in his professional career, a two inning stint in an instructional league game in 1998. Izturis will spend a couple days working out at third before making his first start against the Mariners. Opening day starter Bill Mueller is recovering from knee surgery and is expected to be out until late July.
