Danys Baez, who missed all of 2008 due to Tommy John surgery, might return in '09 not as a bullpen arm but as a starter, according to the Baltimore Sun. "He's expressed some interest in preparing himself as a starter, and we'll see how things go from there," Orioles president Andy MacPhail said. "It seems to make sense. I don't know if you lose anything by doing that. Preparing yourself that you are going to start is not going to retard your development whatever the role you end up being in."

Danys Baez has been transferred to the 60-day DL, according to the Baltimore Sun. The team made the move to make room for infielder Freddie Bynum on the 40-man roster.

Danys Baez is having difficulty making progress in his recovery from Tommy John surgery, and is not likely to return to the Orioles in 2008, according to the Washington Post. Manager Dave Trembley said, "I don't expect him back this year. I think he'll be on a throwing program the entire year. I wouldn't expect that he would be available until sometime next year."

Danys Baez is still restricted to long-tossing and isn't expected to pitch this season, according to the Baltimore Sun. The righty is throwing from 120 feet now, but he'll need to progress to 150 and 180 feet before going to the bullpen.

Danys Baez , who underwent Tommy John Surgery last season, has yet to be cleared to start throwing, according to the Baltimore Sun. The report mentioned that recent inflammation in his elbow has slowed his rehab. He's scheduled to visit Dr. James Andrews in Birmingham, Ala., later this month. The O's set-up man wasn't expected to pitch this season so this negative report won't effect his fantasy value. He has none.
