The Indians have acquired Jamey Carroll from the Rockies in exchange for a player to be named. Carroll hit .225 in 227 at-bats with the Rox in '07. He'll back up at both infield positions.

Jamey Carroll has been cleared to play after spraining his right wrist before Tuesday's game with the Mets, according to the AP. "I could have used him in some capacity on Wednesday," manager Clint Hurdle said.

Jamey Carroll was expected to start on Tuesday, but he was scratched with a sore wrist, an injury he suffered while making a diving play on Monday, according to the Rocky Mountain News. Kaz Matsui got the start, instead.

Jamey Carroll should see the majority of the playing time at second base for the next couple of weeks with Kaz Matsui on the disabled list. Carroll entered Sunday hitting .385 (5-for-13).

Jamey Carroll has signed a two-year contract with the Rockies that includes a club option for 2009, according to the SportsTicker. Carroll hit .300 with five home runs, 36 RBI and 84 runs scored in 136 games for the Rox last year. He will be used mostly in a utility role in 2007, though he could end up starting at second.
