Francisco Rodriguez picked up his 42nd save of the year Thursday, getting the final four outs at Texas. Rodriguez hasn't allowed a run since June 26, covering 29 appearances and 30.2 IP.

The Angels plan to try to work out a long-term deal with Francisco Rodriguez over the offseason, according to the LA Times. "We've agreed that we will sit down at the end of the season and have some serious conversations," agent Paul Kinzer said. "Frankie has definitely put up the numbers and done his job. He's put himself in a good position contract-wise." Rodriguez is making $3.77 million this year and would probably double that total in his second year of arbitration.

As expected, Francisco Rodriguez joined the Angels yesterday for workouts, according to the LA Times. His arrival at camp was delayed by visa problems. Rodriguez said he's trying to refine a changeup to go with his fastball and slider. "I'll see how my arm responds to the changeup," Rodriguez said, "but I don't want it to affect the mechanics of my other pitches."
