"It's an interesting concept to see Carl batting third. We're trying to stimulate runs somehow." Crawford is a lifetime .200 hitter batting third. "I call it a step because I didn't feel any pain in the wrist," he said. "If I move the wrist in a certain direction I feel slight pain. But the way I'm swinging the bat, taking it to right field, I didn't feel any pain, so I call it a step forward."

"I was always afraid of failing because I've always been successful with a lot of things I've done. When it comes to this issue, I'm just not going to be afraid to fail. I'm just going to bunt. Devil Rays executive vice president Andrew Friedman denied any claims that Carl Crawford would miss opening day with the wrist injury that caused him to pull out of the World Baseball Classic, according to the Tampa Tribune. "He's doing well," Friedman said. "I think the most difficult thing he faced was preparing to play games on March 7 and trying to rehab at the same time. I think the rest has helped a lot."
