The Houston Chronicle reports that Astros manager Cecil Cooper said Tuesday that Geoff Blum would get more playing time at third base but wouldn't go so far as to say Blum is now in a platoon situation with starter Ty Wigginton.

The Astros suffered the 5-2 loss to the Pirates this evening, though third baseman Ty Wigginton attempted to get his team going. Wigginton went 1-for-4 at the plate, hitting his third home run of the season to finish with one RBI and one run scored.

The Houston Astros struggled to get any offense going this evening, posting just four hits throughout as they suffered the 6-1 loss to the St. Louis Cardinals. None of the Astros managed multiple hits, leaving third baseman Ty Wigginton as the top man of the night, going 1-for-3 with his second home run of the season, a solo shot that represented the only run Houston would produce on the night.
