The Mariners have promoted Ramon Santiago from Triple-A Tacoma to replace the injured Justin Leone on the roster. Sanitago was hitting just .174 in 56 games this season.

The Mariners can't seem to decide whether Ramon Santiago is coming or going. He was recalled Tuesday, only to be supposedly sent back down on Friday. Then they decided not to send him down after all, only to change their minds again Saturday in order to call up Jose Lopez. Probably.

The Seattle Post-Intelligencer reports that Ramon Santiago is hitting .480 this spring, as he tries to secure a job with the Mariners. "He\'s making plays deep in the hole, showing a lot of range, just doing everything right right now," manager Bob Melvin said. "He\'s making a nice little bid for himself."

Ramon Santiago was traded to the Mariners in the Carlos Guillen deal. He goes from being a potential starter to a certain backup as a result of the transaction. The only potential upside is that if he ever does get to play in Seattle, the M\'s might take better advantage of his speed than the Tigers did.
