The Phillies acquired Chris Snelling from the Rays Tuesday in exchange for cash considerations, according to the AP. "Chris has always had a great bat, but he has battled some injuries in the past," Phillies assistant general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. said. "We feel he will be healthy this coming year and adds a lefthanded hitter and some depth to our outfield." Snelling played in just 30 games in 2007 due to a knee injury, and it's unlikely he'll ever hold any fantasy value outside of NL-only play because of his durability issues.

He suffered the injury when Mike Sweeney's foot clipped him on a close play at first base. "It doesn't feel too good," said Snelling. "I know what the doctors told me (contusion), but in my mind, I'm always worried." It's unclear if Snelling will be forced to miss any time with the injury, but given his injury history, expect the A's to be cautious with him.
