An abuse charge against Brett Myers was dismissed Thursday after his wife said she did not want her husband prosecuted for hitting her in the face during an argument near Fenway Park, according to the AP. Judge Raymond Dougan acknowledged that Myers struck his wife June 23, yet dismissed the charge over the objection of prosecutors because Kim Myers agreed to an affidavit showing she did not want the charge pursued. Myers went 12-7 this season with a 3.91 ERA.

Brett Myers is expected to make his scheduled start Friday at Houston despite some minor shoulder stiffness, the Philadelphia Inquirer reports. "He's a little stiff in his shoulder, but he's OK," manager Charlie Manuel said. "They worked it out. He's got good range of motion and everything. He's fine." Myers is 2-0 with a 2.25 ERA in his last four starts.

Brett Myers was arrested Friday and charged with hitting his wife in the face. Kim Myers and two other women said that the pitcher hit her in the face during an argument on a street near Fenway Park shortly after midnight. Myers pleaded not guilty, and his next court date is August 4. It is unlikely that he will face discipline from the Phillies or MLB until the case is resolved.
