July 26, 2007
When Brett Myers rejoins the Phillies, he could reclaim his closer's role quickly, according to the AP. Myers, sidelined since May 23 with a shoulder injury, had six saves in seven chances after replacing the injured Tom Gordon. Antonio Alfonseca has filled in with both Myers and Gordon out, but manager Charlie Manuel anticipates going back to Myers eventually. "I think when Brett is healed, he's healed," Manuel said. "I think he's the one I can turn loose." Myers was to make another rehab appearance at Class-A Clearwater on Wednesday night. Gordon returned to the bullpen last week and the team will be cautious using him.
July 25, 2007
Brett Myers ill make his third rehab outing on Wednesday night. He is pitching for Single-A Clearwater as he recovers from a strained right shoulder. Myers, who has been out since May 23, could rejoin the Phillies by this weekend, the Philadelphia Inquirer notes.

Brett Myers, who was shifted to the bullpen on Wednesday, agreed to the move with the caveat that he would stay there all season unless a starter suffers a significant injury or is traded, according to the Philadelphia Daily News. "I told them I didn't want to get bounced back and forth all year," he said. "If I'm going to get my mentality set on being a setup guy, that's what I want to be.
