Derrick Turnbow seems to be coming around, as the right-hander has only given up one earned run over his last four outings, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. "He's getting real close," Yost said. "He's just missing. It would be nice to get him back to where he was in the first half." Despite his improvement, Turnbow will not return to the closer role this year.

Derrick Turnbow will work in middle relief for the Brewers with Francisco Cordero taking over as closer, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. "You don't like losing your job," Turnbow said. "At the same time, it's about winning. It's understandable. If I pitch well, hopefully I'll get another chance. Right now, it's too risky with me in there. You've got to have stability." Turnbow has an ERA of 6.00 on the year and has blown eight saves.

Derrick Turnbow picked up his 24th save of the year against the Reds Saturday, which was his first save since June 29. He had temporarily been removed from the closer role due to his recent struggles. It appears as though Turnbow has reclaimed his old job, although there's still a chance that Francisco Cordero, who was acquired from the Rangers on Friday, will get a chance to close some games at some point.
July 28, 2006
Manager Ned Yost said that he could use both Derrick Turnbow and Francisco Cordero as his closer, depending on who has the hot hand, according to the AP. "Production will decide who closes games," Yost said.
July 25, 2006
In his first appearance since losing his closer job, Derrick Turnbow threw a scoreless inning against the Pirates on Tuesday. If he can pitch a few more outings like this one, it's possible that the Brewers will re-insert him into the closer role sometime soon.
July 22, 2006
The Brewers are moving Derrick Turnbow out of the closer's role for the time being, according to the AP. Manager Ned Yost will use Danny Kolb as his primary closer "until Derrick gets back on track."
July 22, 2006
Derrick Turnbow was awful again on Friday night, loading the bases in the ninth inning before being pulled from the game. He avoided his ninth blown save only because he was pulled before any of the three runs charged to him actually came in.
July 16, 2006
Even though Derrick Turnbow has blown three straight save chances and has posted a 34.71 ERA over his past five appearances, Brewers manager Ned Yost said he has no intention of removing Turnbow as the closer, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. "Nothing changes," Yost said. "He's our closer."
July 5, 2006
After blowing his last two save opportunities, Derrick Turnbow was unavailable for Tuesday's game, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. Instead, he worked on straightening out his delivery with pitching coach Mike Maddux, who said the bullpen session went well. "Sometimes, you've just got to iron that shirt," Maddux said.
June 5, 2006
Even though Derrick Turnbow has been struggling lately, Brewers manager Ned Yost said he's sticking with Turnbow as the closer, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. "We've had a bad week," Yost said. "He's had a bad week. He has been pretty good up to that point. The thing you don't do when you get into these little streaks is panic. The biggest mistake is to panic and start messing with guys' roles." Turnbow has blown three of his last four chances.
April 3, 2006
The Brewers and Derrick Turnbow have agreed to a three-year, $6.5 million contract that will keep him in the fold through 2008, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.
