Derrick Turnbow and the Brewers have decided the reliever will start physical therapy instead of surgery to try and repair his torn right rotator cuff, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.

Derrick Turnbow has been placed on the Triple-A disabled list due to issues with his right arm, according to MLB.com. Turnbow will have a full set of tests run, including an MRI, to find out if there are any structural issues in his throwing arm.

Derrick Turnbow's control problems have gotten worse since being sent down to Triple-A Nashville, but GM Doug Melvin stated that the Brewers do not intend to release him, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. In 4.1 innings entering Saturday, he had walked 15 hitters, while allowing five hits and seven earned runs in six outings at Triple-A. Melvin said, "As long as we're paying him what we're paying him ($3.2 million), there's no sense in releasing him. It's not like he's taking somebody's job."

Four teams showed interest in trading for Derrick Turnbow, but when nothing could be worked out so the team decided to place him on irrevocable waivers with the hope of sending him to the minors, according to MLB.com. "If a team comes to me and says, 'I have interest in Turnbow, but I can't take any money on my payroll,' they're asking me to eat his contract and they'll give me a marginal prospect," GM Doug Melvin said. "My response is that if I have to eat his money, I want a prospect in return who is worth at least $1 million. That's why a lot of these guys don't get claimed."

Derrick Turnbow, who was recently designated for assignment by the Brewers, is said to be on the Mets' radar, according to MetsBlog. The team is discussing whether to sign the reliever, who made the All-Star team in 2006.

The Brewers designated Derrick Turnbow for assignment Friday, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. Turnbow held a 15.63 ERA in eight games. Joe Dillon was recalled from Triple-A Nashville to replace Turnbow on the roster.

Derrick Turnbow has been bad this year, and he was hideous the other night, so the Brewers are considering sending Turnbow to the minors, according to MLB.com. Derrick Turnbow really hasn't found a new pitch, he has actually fixed a mechanical flaw in his motion that has allowed him to recapture the movement on his pitches that has been missing, this according to MLB.com. "He's like Mariano Rivera out there," said Ryan Braun. "Everything he throws has cut on it. It's absolutely nasty." Turnbow is being counted on as the team's 8th inning option this season, but with Eric Gagne in the closers role, Turnbow becomes a very interesting late round pick up in all leagues.
