"So we'll do another one on Saturday," Tigers manager Alan Trammell said. “There was no setback. He just thinks he needs another. You always want to make sure you're on the conservative, cautious side." Rodney is on the DL with a sprained elbow.

The Detroit News reports that Fernando Rodney could begin a rehab assignment as soon as the end of next week. He's recovering from a sprained ligament in his right elbow. "He threw very well on Friday and is supposed to throw again on the side (on Sunday),” Tigers manager Alan Trammell said. “That’s very encouraging. The idea is to have him throw in a possible simulated game on Wednesday. That could lead to a rehab assignment, so that’s good news.”

Fernando Rodney has been formally diagnosed with a Grade 3 (the most severe) ligament sprain in his right elbow, according to the Detroit News. The Tigers are not sure when he will return to action. "It’s felt that rehab — exercising and throwing — instead of surgery is what’s needed, so that’s good," said Tigers manager Alan Trammell.

The Tigers placed relief pitcher Fernando Rodney on the DL today with a right elbow sprain. The move is retroactive to March 26 meaning that Rodney will be eligible to be activated on April 10 if he's healthy.
