Fernando Rodney could continue to close out games for the Tigers while Todd Jones eases back into the role, but manager Jim Leyland has been noncommital about how the situation will play out. "He's been absolutely tremendous," Leyland said of Rodney. "We have ourselves a heck of a big-league pitcher. That's the way I look at it. I have all the confidence in the world in him. I'm not smart enough to be able to say to guys, 'This is your exact role.' I told everybody we'll have 12 pitchers and every one of them will have to get big outs for us." Jones was activated from the DL on Thursday night.

It looks like Fernando Rodney will get the first shot at closing games for the Tigers, while Todd Jones is sidelined by a hamstring injury, according to the Detroit News. "Probably for the most part, to start with," said manager Jim Leyland. "We'll see how it goes."

The Tigers website reports that Fernando Rodney will get the first chance at save opportunities while Todd Jones is out. However, manager Jim Leyland did not outright name Rodney the new closer.

Fernando Rodney is the best bet to get saves for the Tigers early in the season while Todd Jones recovers from a hamstring injury. Jones will be placed on the disabled list.
