No discussions have taken place, but the Rockies have expressed interest in bringing Jason Jennings back to Colorado next season, according to the Rocky Mountain News. Jennings, who made just 18 starts this year due to elbow issues, plans to test the free-agent market, but he's said he's open to playing for any team.

Jennings underwent surgery to repair a torn flexor tendon in the elbow in late August and is expected to need six months of rehab time. Jason Jennings struggled through four innings Thursday, pitching with shoulder tendinitis, the Astros official site reports. Jennings anticipates being able to make his next start. "I threw almost 100 pitches last time [in Chicago]. I don't think my shoulder was quite ready for 100 pitches, and I was a little sore the next day. I'm kind of going through Spring Training right now and building arm strength. It's part of me trying to get back in game shape."

Jason Jennings was able to throw at least 100 pitches yesterday, 75 in a bullpen session, according to the Houston Chronicle. "Depending on how I feel tomorrow, I'm pretty sure I'll go out and throw a rehab start Thursday at Class AA Corpus Christi," he said. "After that, we'll kind of go from there and see what we can do." Jennings is recovering from tendinitis in his throwing elbow, and it's possible he could return to action soon after his first rehab appearance.

Jennings, battling elbow tendinitis, is probably at least a week away from coming off the DL. The Astros have decided to not discuss a new contract with Jason Jennings during the season, according to the Houston Chronicle. Jennings can become a free agent after the year. "I guess we don't want to paint it as tabling it because of his (elbow) injury, but the more we talk we asked, 'Does it make sense to talk about something during the season?' " GM Tim Purpura said. "We all agreed rather than muddy the waters the first season with us, if we didn't do something in spring training we would wait until the end of the season."

Jennings, who threw off flat ground for the fourth day in a row Tuesday, plans to limit himself to only fastballs today. "It will be a good evaluation for where I am and where I need to be," he said. "I've been doing exercises and so far so good, but the true test won't be until I get on the mound and start throwing breaking balls like I would in normal game-type situations."

Jason Jennings received a cortisone shot in his elbow Monday, according to the Houston Chronicle. He's recovering from tendinitis in the elbow. "The results were pretty positive," he said. "As bad as it sounds, it's normal pitcher's wear and tear. There's just inflammation in there that I got a cortisone shot to take care of that. I'll just rest for a couple of weeks and try to get going again." Jennings is optimistic because he has dealt with the same discomfort since last June and because the MRI he underwent Saturday revealed no ligament damage.
