The A's have picked up Mark Ellis' $5 million option for the 2008 season, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. "Technically, we didn't have to pick this up until November, but given that it was a fait accompli, it seemed like a better gesture to do it now," GM Billy Beane said. "He deserves it." Ellis hit .273 with 19 homers and 76 RBI this year, making him an underrated option in fantasy.
