The Rockies re-signed Brian Fuentes to a two-year deal Tuesday, according to the AP. Financial terms were not disclosed. He saved 31 games for Colorado in 2005.

The Marlins have been persistent in their pursuit of Brian Fuentes from the Rockies, but Colorado doesn't appear to be inclined to trade their most valuable reliever, according to the Sun-Sentinel. The Marlins have been offering Triple-A shortstop Josh Wilson and Double-A right-hander Yorman Bazardo.

The Marlins are seeking left-handed help in their bullpen and are said to be interested in acquiring Brian Fuentes from Colorado, according to the Miami Herald. However, a high-ranking Rockies official said the team would have to be "overwhelmed" by a trade offer before it would consider parting with Fuentes.

Brian Fuentes gave up a leadoff single followed by a wild pitch in the ninth inning on Thursday but then got two pop-ups and one fly-out to earn his first save of the season. It was also his first save since 2003. Fuentes has been tabbed the closer for Colorado while Chin-Hui Tsao is out.

Rockies manager Clint Hurdle indicated that southpaw Brian Fuentes would serve as the club's closer while Chin-hui Tsao is on the 15-day DL. Fuentes has allowed just five runs in 15 IP this year, striking out 10 with nine walks.
