Wilson Betemit was given Wednesday off in part because he was hitting .111 against left-handed starters and partly because he had played nine straight games since coming over from the Braves, according to the LA Times. Julio Lugo started in place of Betemit at the hot corner and probably will do so the remainder of the season against left-handed starters.
