The Rangers inked Joaquin Benoit to a two-year, $6 million deal on Wednesday evening, according to the Dallas Morning News. "It's something I really wanted to get done," Benoit said by phone from the Dominican Republic. "This really means a lot to me to know that they want me. I'm excited to be here." Benoit has indicated he'd like a chance to close in 2008, but that will depend on the status of Akinori Otsuka, who dealt with many arm issues this year, and how the team wants to use C.J. Wilson.

Joaquin Benoit signed a one-year, $1.05 million deal with Texas Monday, according to the AP. Benoit held a 4.86 ERA in 56 appearances.
