The Blue Jays acquired Lyle Overbay from the Brewers in exchange for Dave Bush, Gabe Gross and minor league pitcher Zack Jackson. Overbay will be the everday first baseman in Toronto, and either Eric Hinske or Shea Hillenbrand is likely on the way out of town.

The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports that the Brewers are not looking to trade Lyle Overbay at the winter meetings this week, but they may do so if they get an offer they can't refuse. Otherwise, they'll be content to go into the season with Overbay at first base and allow Prince Fielder to get more experience at Triple-A.

If the Brewers decide during the offseason that Prince Fielder is ready to replace Lyle Overbay at first base, they likely will trade Overbay, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. "That's a big decision," manager Ned Yost said. "What are we going to do? I think Prince is like Rickie (Weeks). He's ready to step in and play. But we've got a bona fide, everyday first baseman there now, who is a proven run producer and proven major-league hitter."

Although Lyle Overbay struggled against left-handed pitching during the first half and began losing playing time to Wes Helms when a southpaw was on the mound, Brewers manager Ned Yost will no longer sit Overbay routinely against left-handers, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. "Lyle's been swinging a little better (.238 average) against lefties," said Yost. "I think platooning Lyle a little bit in the first half might have messed him up a little bit. Lyle's not a platoon player. He was just struggling against lefties at that point. But we're more on track as a team now."
