The Blue Jays would reportedly like to deal Lyle Overbay to the Mariners, and are willing to eat some of his salary, according to the Seattle Times.

Lyle Overbay had some mild discomfort in his right hand that led to him being removed from the Jays game on Sunday, according to the Blue Jays Official Website. "Lyle's hand is a little sore, but it's nothing serious," manager Cito Gaston said. "He can probably play on Tuesday. It's a little weak. It's nothing big -- it's just a little weak.

"He's been scuffling a little bit," manager John Gibbons acknowledged. "He's just pulling off the ball. He's got to stay on it and take it to left-center field. He's coming off it just enough where he's cutting across the ball and it's keeping him from driving the ball."

Lyle Overbay said he should know soon whether his right hand, which was broken last June, is completely healed, according to the AP. "I think these next 2-3 weeks will tell," Overbay said Tuesday. "With the vibration it might flare up a bit, but that is expected. My strength is there, so it’s just a matter of making sure it doesn’t flare up too much." So far, he's had no problems with his hand, though he has missed the past couple of days of camp due to a stomach ailment.

Lyle Overbay tested his recovering right hand on Saturday, and according to the positive results, all systems are a go for the spring training schedule. According to the team website, it has been nothing but good news on the Overbay front. "I don't see anything. He looks like the old guy," skipper John Gibbons said after Saturday's practice session. Overbay's 2006 campaign is what the Jays need if the team is to compete in a tough AL East. The lefty hit .312 with 22 home runs, 46 doubles and 92 RBIs over 157 games.
