Marcus Thames will stay in the Tigers' starting lineup tonight against right-handed starter Scott Elarton, according to the Detroit Free Press. "This is a little promotion," manager Alan Trammell said. "As long as he's swinging the way he is, I'll find a way to get him in."

The Tigers purchased the contract of outfielder Marcus Thames from Triple-A Toledo, where he hit .329 with 24 home runs in 64 games. Thames started at DH for the Tigers on Tuesday night and was 0-for-4. He can play all three outfield positions and could win some regular playing time if he can stay hot at the big league level. The Detroit Free Press reports that Thames may start the next two games because lefties are on the mound for Kansas City.
