The Tigers optioned Marcus Thames to Triple-A Toledo, according to the AP. Thames, who is mired in a 1-for-18 slump, is batting just .188 with six home runs and 15 RBI this season.

The Tigers have recalled Marcus Thames from Triple-A Toledo to replace the injured Ramon Martinez on the roster, according to the AP. Thames was 6-for-8 with two home runs in his first two games for the Mud Hens this season. He started in left field for the Tigers on Saturday and was 1-for-4 with a grand slam.
