Mark Buehrle will get seven days' rest due to Thursday's rainout, this according to the Chicago Tribune. Don Cooper insists Buehrle is healthy and will remain on a five-day schedule following his next start Monday against Oakland. "Nothing is wrong with Buehrle," Cooper said during a conference call with reporters. "Mark Buehrle is fine with a couple of extra days (of rest). He's looking to get his 33 starts and 200 innings. Mark Buehrle will pitch on April 14, 19, 24 and 29th. That's every five days. There's no extra time." The realigning also means that Buehrle and fellow left-hander John Danks will pitch on consecutive days (April 14-15 and 19-20) but will be separated after that.

February 24, 2008
Mark Buehrle was scratched from his scheduled outing in an intrasquad game Monday because of soreness. The lefty had been expected to throw two innings, but he said he felt a little tight. "It's not a big deal," manager Ozzie Guillen said in the AP. The Sox plan to not use Buehrle too much this spring because of all the innings he has piled up over the last few years. This news isn't a big deal, as everyone in spring training is probably a little sore at this point. Keep tabs on Buehrle, though, to make sure the problem doesn't flare up.
February 22, 2008
Mark Buehrle has been named the White Sox opening day starter, according to a report on the Chicago Sun Times. This will be the sixth opening day start in seven years for Buehrle. Mark will be followed in the rotation by Javier Vazquez, John Danks, Jose Contreras and Gavin Floyd. Buehrle had a nice bounce back season last year with a 3.63 ERA and 1.26 WHIP, and he won 10 games, the seventh straight season he has won in double digits. Still, he had only 115 K, so he is a mid-level starter at best in 5x5 leagues.
