The Padres acquired Adrian Gonzalez, Chris Young and Terrmel Sledge from the Rangers for Adam Eaton, Akinori Otsuka and a minor league prospect, according to the AP. He will try to steal some time away from Ryan Klesko at first base.

Adrian Gonzalez got his first major league start in right field on Friday, according to the AP. "We'll get his feet wet and hope they don't sink," manager Buck Showalter said. Gonzalez has been a first baseman throughout his pro career and hasn't played the outfield since he was 12 years old.
