Rocco Baldelli's name came up frequently during the GM Meetings on Monday, according to the Tampa Tribune, but the outfielder's injury history could be a stopping block for many teams. He dealt with hamstring injuries throughout 2007, and injuries limited him to just 92 games in 2006. The Twins, who will have to replace Torii Hunter, and the Nationals have shown interest.

Although Rocco Baldelli has rejoined the Devil Rays, he won't be playing again this year, the Tampa Tribune reports. Baldelli said he is still awaiting the results of some of the "assortment" of tests he has gone through in recent weeks in an effort to pin down anything that might be causing his run of leg problems. Baldelli wouldn't get into specifics - even about anything that might have been ruled out - but said he fully expects to play next season.

Baldelli has been out with a strained hamstring and side effects from changing his running style. It's possible we'll see him DH a bit down the stretch, but that's far from a certainty.
August 25, 2007
Rocco Baldelli has been shut down due to general soreness. He'll be examined further on Monday to determine what his next step will be, according to the Tampa Tribune. The Rays think that he's dealing with side effects from changing his running style, rather than having aggravated his hamstring injury. Baldelli's cursed with an inability to stay healthy, so the Rays want him to change his running mechanics. It's possible the side effects will subside in a day or two, but with his history that's not likely.
