Chase Utley has been given clearance to increase his workout routine, including swinging the bat. The amount of swinging Utley, who is coming back from a broken bone in his hand, does will depend upon his pain tolerance level, along with comfort and strength in his right hand, according to Sports Network. He will also increase his throwing program without wearing a splint. Utley's return date will be determined later in the week.

"It's a broken bone, you have to let it heal," said Utley, who was originally hoping to return in late August. "Obviously it's disappointing, but there's no point of me trying to come out here, play and reaggravate it. Just have to do what the doctor says and let it heal."
