Adam Wainwright continues to progress well in his comeback from and injured middle finger and hopes to return to the hill for the Cardinals the first week of August, according to MLB.com. "I think it's healed exactly like it's supposed to," Wainwright said. "...I have every confidence that as soon as I get into my brain that my finger is healthy, I'll be fine."

Adam Wainwright hopes to receive good news from doctors in regards to the ruptured "pulley" in his finger so that he can resume throwing with a target date of returning to action right after the All-Star break, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Adam Wainwright will not need surgery to fix his sprained right middle finger, but GM John Mozeliak expects Wainwright to miss at least three weeks, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. He has a tear of a "pulley" that connects to the finger's flexor tendon. The injury is less severe than a tear of the flexor tendon itself, but it is not considered minor. "I would call it significant," Mozeliak said. "I don't think he'll be back before three weeks. But it's really difficult to put a timetable on it right now."
