Adam Wainwright will not need surgery on his ailing elbow and could begin throwing before the end of the month, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. An MRI revealed no structural damage.

Cardinals pitching prospect Adam Wainwright may be facing elbow surgery nearly two months following his last appearance for Triple-A Memphis, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. He hasn't pitched since June 7. GM Walt Jocketty said the team would know more in 10 days. Wainwright will likely undergo another MRI sometime soon.
