White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen indicated that he wouldn't put Uribe back in the lineup until Uribe came to him and said he was ready to play. "If Uribe doesn't not come to me until the last day of the season, he's not playing," Guillen said. "I don't care if he's mad and I don't care if his feelings are hurt. I didn't come here to make friends. I came to win games. My pride is bigger than his. We can replace him. They can't replace me."

"His mechanics are controlled by his brain," said hitting coach Greg Walker. He's trying to do too much and doesn't focus with nobody on base. When he's focused, he goes through [hot] stretches of weeks or a month. I remember when he was hitting [.393] in April [of 2004]." Uribe is hitting .227 on the season.
