Rob Mackowiak will continue to see action in center field over Brian Anderson against right-handed starters, according to the Chicago Tribune. "We're not concerned about Brian," manager Ozzie Guillen said. "[Mackowiak's] getting better at-bats right now. Brian is not hitting the way we hoped he'd hit. Right now, Mackowiak is going to be in against tough righties until we see Brian start swinging the bat better."

Rob Mackowiak might see a little more action in center field, specifically against right-handed starters, as White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen plans to give struggling rookie Brian Anderson some games off, according to the Daily Southtown. "I might play Mackowiak against righties a little more right now to try to see Brian come out of his shell and get more comfortable," Guillen said.

Rob Mackowiak started in center field for the White Sox in their second game of the season on Tuesday. The White Sox plan to give Mackowiak plenty of action, and he could start several games per week in a super utility role similar to that of Ryan Freel of the Reds.

Since Brian Anderson is recovering from wrist surgery and the White Sox don't see Jerry Owens as an option right now, Rob Mackowiak could start in center field when the season begins, according to the Daily Southtown. "He gives you a luxury that a lot of teams don't have," GM Ken Williams said. "Having him on our roster is like having two players in one. There's a reason we were trying to get him for so many years. He can do a lot of different things for you, and we plan on taking advantage of that fact."

Acquired last month from the Pirates, Rob Mackowiak signed a two-year, $5.3 million deal with the White Sox on Wednesday, according to the Sun-Times. The team holds an option for 2008, as well.
