He left after collecting the first two outs of the frame, wincing in pain after throwing a strike to Jose Vizcaino. He threw one warmup pitch before indicating that he could not continue.

Meanwhile, the Chicago Tribune reports that Sox GM Ken Williams said, "He's going back to [Triple-A] Charlotte and back into the rotation. If an opportunity presents itself to get better [through a trade], yes, but we aren't in the business of giving away that sort of talent."

Williams said he would solicit input from the White Sox players before making any final decision. Rauch left the stadium before Saturday's game was over, angering Williams and several teammates.

Rauch was rocked in his first start of the season on Saturday and then apparently left the stadium before the game was over.

Jon Rauch got rocked Saturday night in his first major league start since Sept. 27, 2002, allowing five runs and 10 hits in just 3 2/3 innings. To make matters worse, he probably ended any chance he has of pitching for the White Sox again by leaving the clubhouse before the game was over. Rauch was nowhere to be found when White Sox GM Ken Williams went into the clubhouse after the game to tell him he has been demoted back to Triple-A.
