Pedro Feliz, who's long ball in the sixth inning wasn't enough to give the Phillies a victory, did hit a career high fifth spring home run on Thursday. The move from spacious San Francisco to Philadelphia seems to have invigorated the veteran.

Pedro Feliz smacked his fourth homer of the spring against the Yankees on Monday. He is off to a good start in that department and should hit a solid share of bombs while playing his home games in Philadelphia this season.
March 20, 2008
Pedro Feliz went 1-for-3 against the Pirates on Thursday as he collected his third homer of the spring. Feliz should hit a solid share of home runs while playing his home games in Philadelphia this season.
February 28, 2008
Pedro Feliz has fallen out of bed hitting as he has gone 4-for-5 in his two games with his new team, the Phillies. Feliz figures to post at last 20 HR and 70 RBI this year for the Phillies since he has reached those totals in four straight seasons. Given a move to a more offensive ballclub who plays in a hitter's park, those numbers are likely the starting point for what to expect from Feliz this season.

The Phillies have inked Pedro Feliz to a two-year, $8.5 million deal. Feliz will certainly improve the team's defense, but on offense his woeful on-base percentage wipes any power he might provide. That said, if any team can live with Feliz's OBP deficiency, it's probably the Phillies, who have arguably the best offense in the NL, so this seems like a pretty good fit. Feliz was a Type B free agent, so the Giants will receive a sandwich pick. Wes Helms and Greg Dobbs will now be relegated to bench roles.
