Mark Hendrickson evened his record at 1-1 by limiting the Pirates to just one earned runs over 5.1 innings. Hendrickson is a below .500 pitcher in his career (44-56) and with a 5.05 ERA and 1.35 WHIP he is nothing more than an average major league hurler. You might consider using him in NL Only leagues but even then it might be a bumpy ride.

Mark Hendrickson worked six scoreless innings on Tuesday, limiting the Dodgers to three hits and a walk, while striking out two. Manager Fredi Gonzalez said earlier in the day that he wasn't prepared to announce his opening day starter, but Hendrickson may have made the decision for Gonzalez with his performance today.
March 18, 2008
Fish manager Fredi Gonzalez said early Tuesday, a day after he said he would reveal his starter for the Marlins' March 31 game against the Mets. ``Right now it's not a good time," according to the Miami Herald. ``We'll announce it later on -- later on today, later on tomorrow, later on in the spring. Before opening day, though, it will be announced,'' said Gonzalez. Mark Hendrickson, the 6-9 left-hander formerly of the NBA, was slated to start Tuesday, but Gonzalez said he wasn't waiting for the outing. Gonzalez also said pitchers Ricky Nolasco and Scott Olsen would pitch Thursday, one after another, but they're performance also wasn't a factor. Gonzalez didn't say but the obvious candidates for the first game are Hendrickson (2.70 ERA in three starts), and Andrew Miller, the prized pitching prospect acquired from the Detroit Tigers (1-0 with a 4.24 earned-run average in five appearances). The thought is that Hendrickson will get the start relieving the team of putting any undue pressure on the younger Miller.

February 17, 2008
The Marlins appear to have four starting pitchers already set, including Mark Hendrickson, MLB.com reports. We're surprised their not making Hendrickson prove himself a little more before earning a spot in the rotation, but it's not like they have much experience to work with. Hendrickson has very little fantasy value.
January 16, 2008
The Marlins signed Mark Hendrickson to a one-year, $1.5 million deal Wednesday. "Mark gives us another quality left-handed arm in our rotation and his experience and veteran leadership should benefit our clubhouse," said Fredi Gonzalez in the AP. Hendrickson posted a 5.21 ERA in 39 games (15 starts) for the Dodgers last year. Based on Gonzalez's comments, it sounds like he'll at least initially be used as a starter.
