It was thought that Jake Peavy would start Sunday on three day's rest if the Padres had yet to clinch a playoff spot. Jake Peavy is prepared to start on three days of rest Sunday if the Padres need the game for a playoff spot. If the game is meaningless to San Diego, Brett Tomko will likely start. San Diego enters Wednesday's play one game ahead of Colorado and Philadelphia in the Wild Card race; the Padres are also two games back of Arizona in the NL West. It's hard to imagine how this crazy race will be decided before Sunday, so it looks like Peavy owners can look forward to a pair of starts. He'll go today at San Francisco, then Sunday at Milwaukee, as needed.
