Maicer Izturis underwent season-ending surgery on Tuesday to repair a torn ulnar collateral ligament in his left thumb, the AP reports. He is expected to be ready for spring training in 2009.

Maicer Izturis will undergo season-ending surgery on his left thumb next Tuesday, according to the AP. "It's a tough loss," manager Mike Scioscia said. "We feel terrible for Izzy. We have to move on, but he's an important part of what weve done."
